So sorry about the delay, but here is the Part 2 of my day last weekend.
My mom and I were going to visit Spadina Museum, and so before hand we looked up what restaurants were close by for us to have lunch.
I found this little restaurant called Live Organic Food Bar. It’s on Dupont Street right across the road from the Subway station. Their menu consists only of organic foods that are gluten and sugar free. Neither my mom nor I are vegans, or even vegetarians, but it is always great trying new things and eating healthy so we gave it a go.
It’s a very small restaurant, but very long, so the seating goes way to the back of the place. It’s also very popular! By the time we left, the entire place was packed with customers, making it impossible to get any great pictures of the store itself.
I ordered the Falafel Wrap and Side Salad, and oh my gosh was it good. I’m not sure what was in the dressing on the salad, but it complimented the greens perfectly. Usually I’m afraid to order mixed greens salads because they tend to be bitter, but this one was delicious. And the wrap, which looked more like a taco, tasted great as well! It consisted of sunflower falafels, smoked carrot hummus, cauliflower/kale tabouli, cucumber, tomato, pickled red onion, micro greens, tahini sauce, and za’atar oil.
Mom had crepes with coconut “whipped cream” and strawberry jam. When they brought it out, I’m not going to lie, I didn’t think they looked very good. However I tried a bite and they were great!! I would definitely order both of these dishes again.
Even though the portions were fairly large, I didn’t feel tired or heavy when I finished. I was full for long afterwards, but I was comfortable and felt awake and energized all day. That’s what is so great about eating healthy foods. They don’t give you the “oomph” feeling like when you eat a bowl of pasta or have a large steak dinner.
I’m glad there are restaurants with these options available, so people can choose to eat healthy rather than always going to fast food places. Even if you aren’t a vegetarian, it’s great to give these places a try. I think you will be pleasantly surprised with how good the food is! And how great you will feel afterwards.
For the Torontonians out there, here is the link to their website: Live Food Bar
Cheers!

That’s exactly why I went there as well. 🙂 But I’m very bad when it comes to eating junk food.
