Hello New York!

One of my best friends lives thousands of miles away in Brazil.
The first time we met was when I was in grade ten, but we had been pen pals for a few years prior to that.

Since then, we haven’t managed to meet up again, until now. In New York!

My side of the trip started out a little rocky.  I arrived in New York to find my suitcase had been stolen. Now, usually I am a pretty smart packer, and pack all my make-up and more valuable items in my carry-on, but since it was a bus trip I thought it would be fine in the suitcase. Boy was I wrong!  So there I was in the Big Apple with no make-up, no clothes, and no toiletries.  And so logically, the first store I went to was Sephora, because apparently clothing wasn’t a priority at the time.

Sephora really was a blessing that day.  I went in to buy a few items, and told one of the associate’s what had happened. She was so helpful and gave me a bunch of samples of moisturizer, cleanser, foundation, and even perfume to last me throughout the trip.  She spoke with me for a while and really helped me stay positive about the whole situation, and for that I will be forever grateful.

When Vivica and her friend Julia arrived, it was like it hadn’t been years at all since we last saw each other.  Though we are both older now, deep down we haven’t changed.

We were all starving by the time they arrived, so the first thing we did was go in search of food!

None of us have been to Shake Shack before, so that’s exactly where we went.

The line looks intimidatingly long at first, but it moves rather quickly.  We were ordering in about ten minutes.

The real challenge is finding a table!

But with a little determination we were successful.

And the food may not look like much, but oh my goodness is it amazing!! Definitely worth the wait.

What I love about Shake Shack is that their burgers are all 100% all-natural Angus beef, vegetarian fed, humanely raised, with no hormones or antibiotics.

I ordered the Single Shack Burger with fries and organic Apple Juice.  Even though the juice is meant for kids, I thought the name was so cute! Appley Ever After. Awe!!

After dinner we walked along the High Line, a beautiful pathway above the city.

It used to be elevated train tracks, but since the trains stopped running along it in 1980, it was later turned into a public park.

The High Line ended in Chelsea, and so our next destination was the Chelsea Market!

All money donated to the Wishing Well is donated to help NYC animals in need.

We wandered a bit more through Chelsea towards Bleecker Street for a late night snack at Magnolia.

We brought our cakes to enjoy in the park across the street.

Followed by an enjoyable long walk back to our hotel for the night.
Apart from my missing luggage, my first day back in New York was amazing!

    1. It was horrible! Never pack everything you love in one suitcase, it will break your heart.
Also, I bought a brand new limited edition GHD straightener and packed it for the trip. I never used it once!! :'( The hotel was fine! Good location, free breakfast. It had its moments, but overall it was good. Thanks for asking. 🙂

  1. girrl! So sorry to hear 🙁 It’s tough on a bus when they expect you to put your luggage on the bottom of the bus you never can tell who will walk off with it. I hope shake shack made up for a semi-bad day! LOL. If not, try Momofuku Milk Bar and get either the cereal milk ice cream and compost cookie TO DIE FOR!

    1. I would never think that someone would actually take someone else’s suitcase! How horrible. Yes, Shake Shack and seeing my friends definitely helped me feel better. I’ll have to try that Milk Bar! Cereal Milk Ice Cream sounds very interesting. 🙂 (I dunno how I feel about “compost” cookie! aha :P)
